The Harmonized System or “HS” is a international product nomenclature developed by the World Customs Organization (WCO) that comprises about 5,000 commodity groups; each identified by a six digit code, arranged in a legal structure. The system is used by more than 200 countries and economies as a basis for their Customs tariffs. Over 98 % of the merchandise in international trade is classified in terms of the HS.
The WCO has provided an indicative list for Covid-19 medical supplies and their classification. This list does not have legal status, but is intended to be used as guidance. It is available HERE.
